I need help creating an 80s themed Costume...that will be easy and inexpensive to put together?

I'm going to my friends 80s themed party, and I need help with what to wear, she is kind of doing the off the shoulder sweater with leggings and pumps and stuff, and so is there anymore options for me, she doesn't really care, but I don't want to look like I was basing my own off of hers...I need help creating an 80s themed Costume...that will be easy and inexpensive to put together?
well most of the outfits were similar to what she's wearing, but you could change a few minor details. Try black jazz booties instead of heels. and wear black tights with bright colored leg warmers, with a cute terry cloth headband like around your forehead not on top of your head, you could also try like an off the shoulder sweatshirt instead of tee. just cut the collar and shoulders out of an old sweatshirt that hits right at or a little above the belly button with a leotard underneath.I need help creating an 80s themed Costume...that will be easy and inexpensive to put together?
Sure, you could do a workout type look...shiny spandex leggings with a body suit and those scrunch down socks or leg warmers with a side ponytail, like this http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y225/al鈥?/a>

Or something very Madonna, like this http://img2.timeinc.net/people/i/2007/qu鈥?/a>

Or, the bad 80's prom dress look which includes a bad poofy usually shiny dress (to the knee) in a weird color like teal, huge hair and some tacky jewelery and makeup (look at Salvation army for some great BAD dresses!)

Goodluck!
do the tight acid wash jeans with a lace bodysuit- or acid wash mini skirt w lace body suit, and definatly wear two pairs of colored socks, layered in a ';checker board'; style. you could even rock this w/ heels.
some bamboo hoops nd like bright fun colors maybe skinny leg jeans nd a side ways high pony tail yea nd so just wear bright colored shirt with skinny leg jeans and heels or high top sneakers and the thick gold hoops
