Seeing as many people have similar if not the same bags, it is recommended that you have some large visible marker on your bag so you know that is yours...How would one going about making one of the large tufts of yarn that almost looks like a rough shaving brush...just made out of yarn?Creating a visible marker for your bag?
I wouldn't suggest using yarn as yarn can rip or tear in the travel/handling process.
I bough myself bright green luggage straps that fit around the width of the suitcase. I put my name on them with permanent marker. When my bags come through the luggage carousal I can spot them immediately.
You can buy luggage straps in bright colors such as hot pink, bright green, bright orange, and florescent yellow at any luggage store, as well as places such as Target, Kmart, and Walmart in the luggage section. They usually cost about $3-5 dollars, but are worth it and they last. I've had mine for almost 5 years now, and I travel the world frequently.Creating a visible marker for your bag?
I would suggest not using yarn if you travel a lot. Yarn wears down with wear and tear. We (my husband and I, sons, daughters-in-law and grand-kids) have been traveling all over the world. We find that strong ribbon lasts forever. We have ribbon on our suitcases that have made trips to the Bahamas, cruises, about 5 trips to Italy, Spain and many to Mexico. We find the suitcases go before the ribbon. We had 17 pieces of luggage on a family trip to Nassau and they all had the same bright ribbons. One of the pieces was missing after the carousels stopped. It did not take us long to find the missing piece which was somehow put on the side as unclaimed. It was easy to spot across the hall. That was 18 years ago. We still do ribbons -- tried and true. Have a wonderful vacation.
you have to be careful with a tuft like that because it could get caught on another bag while being loaded and it might pop off.
my mother in law has a bright pink and yellow polka dotted ribbon tied to her handle and my father in law has a godawful blue and yellow one tied to his. i have opted for a round neon green luggage tag for mine and seems to work for me. my daughter has really embarrassing obnoxious hot pink luggage that she ties bright purple ribbons on the handles. there's never any doubt whatsoever which bags are hers. my husband's suitcase is the only one hard to identify.
Something uncommon is wide fabric ribbon, like the kind used for wreath decoration, just knot and maybe tie a bow on the handle. Tags with plastic and even metal can be ripped off in transit, the harder the material, the more brittle it is.
I use something simple. Coloured tape or a bright coloured external strap work well for me.
I have the same problem all the time since I have a black bag. Some travel or suitcase stores have colored handle covers that will help you identify your bag. You can use highliter or color a peice of masking tape and stick it on your bags. You can put a keychain on the zipper also.
Hope this helps!
