Why did god create hell? How could he even think of doing such an evil thing like creating a place like hell?

A response from my last question lead me to ask this one.

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;…Why did god create hell? How could he even think of doing such an evil thing like creating a place like hell?
It was created because of Satan.

According to Matthew 25:41, God originally created hell for “the devil and his angels.” In the very beginning, it was not God’s intention for any man to suffer the torments of hell, but then man chose to follow the way of Satan by becoming a sinner (Gen. 3). In doing, so, man reaped the same judgment as Satan. Just as it would be wrong for the Governor of your state to set a murderer free, it would have been wrong for God to not punish sinners.

God’s justice demands that a payment be made for sin. Man can make his own payment by going to hell forever, or he can place his trust in the payment already made by the Lord Jesus Christ.

This tells us that the original cause for hell being created was not because of man, but because of the devil and his angels (we refer to his angels as “demons”).

The need to separate wicked people from righteous people is clear – that is why jails are built.

Jails keep wicked people “afar off” from honest, law-abiding people. Between honest people and criminals there are placed bars, wide courtyards, high fences, and guards.

youre an idiot!! Report Abuse

Cripes, this question is so easy I can't believe that people don't get it.

Heaven is a lot like school. Respect the teacher, follow the rules, graduate.

Ignore the rules, spit on the teacher and you are expelled or drop out.

God had to have a place for all the drop-outs to go. God doesn't expel anyone, people either accept God, follow the rules and graduate or the reject God, ignore the rules and drop-out.

To have a choice you need three things, two choices and a position to make the choice from. We make the choice between graduating to Heaven or dropping out into Hell from this world.

If you want to get an idea of the difference between Heaven and Hell, look at the majority of graduates and see how they live, then look at the majority of drop outs and see how they live.
This is similar to asking, ';If our government is so good, why would it create prisons?'; In the Bible it tells us in Matthew 25:41 that hell was later prepared for ';the devil and his angels'; (see also Isaiah 14:12). God did not create hell for man; it was never His intention that any man or woman should go to hell. In 2 Peter 3:9, we learn that God does not want ';anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.';

While God desires that everyone would choose to love Him, some people will choose not to. These people will die in their sins and be separated from God forever in hell. God loves us so much that He respects our freedom of choice. If we choose not to love Him, then why would He want to force us to live with Him eternally in heaven? Wouldn't living for eternity with someone we don't love be hell anyway?

A misconception about hell is that it is a place of physical torment and torture. Rather, most Christians have understood these descriptions to capture symbolically that hell is final and utter separation from God's saving grace. Some Christians, like C. S. Lewis, take hell to be a real place where sinful people make themselves miserable. Similarly, thinking of heaven as a place of hedonistic pleasures is wrongheaded as well. In fact, those who choose hell would not enjoy the pleasures of heaven since those pleasures essentially flow from a right relationship with God.
God is a righteous judge who will eventually punish murderers, rapists, liars, thieves, adulterers etc...

Rev. 14:10-11 tells us the final eternal destiny of the sinner: '; He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone... the smoke of their torment ascended up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day or night';.

It doesn't have to be that way.
It's not a evil thing that God created Hell. It's for all those who don't except his wonderful gife of salvation! You may think heaven and hell isn't real, but trust me it's real! And we'll all spend the end of our lives in either hevean or hell. And doing good works won't get you there!
Hell was created for the devil and his fallen angels.

It is wise NOT to question that which you don't understand and don't want to understand. God is God and He can and will punish disobedience as He sees fit.

The GOOD NEWS is that He took YOUR punishment for you on the Cross and is offering reconciliation with Himself as a FREE GIFT.

REJECTING Gods payment for ones sin debt leads a person to end up in the same place where satan will end up. NO reason for anyone to go there, as the price has been paid for escaping that end, however, God will not force anyone to go into heaven with Him and won't allow sin there in His presence.

BELIEVE in the finished work of Christ and you no longer need to worry about God being so mean as to send you or anyone else there. People will end up there who reject Gods alternative.

Because the hell punishment of God is in proportion to a person's stubbornness to God's mercy.

The bible's hell punishment is temporary as follows...

God eventually saves all of us from sin and shares His complete happy experience of eternity with everyone...

God reconciles all to Himself through Jesus Christ, Who makes peace through His shed blood and crucifixion (Col 1:20). Jesus is the Lamb of God Who takes away all the sins of all the world (Jn 1:29). The creation itself, also, shall be freed from the slavery of corruption into the glorious freedom of the children of God (Rom 8:21).

Hell's punishment is not forever but until the end of the eons - eonian punishment. People don't sin enough during their mortal lives for God to choose endless punishment besides it would spoil the future of eternity to have a section continually reserved for endless torture...

People are made by God to rebel against His ideal will for them and then offered a choice - forgiveness of their rebellion, or, punishment for their sins until they have paid the last 'penny'... After punishment, those who went through torture in hell come to realise they need faith on God to succeed in life and they are converted into God's kingdom so that they cease from sinning and are rewarded for their compliance...

There are two bible translations which uphold the doctrine of Universal Reconciliation with God, and the union of all beings into experience of God as the all in each of us. For a free download of these bibles you can try this website: http://www.scripture4all.org/

An outline of the bible references which support Christian Universalism has been posted at this webpage: http://uk.geocities.com/timpauloconnor@b…

God didn't create hell originally for us. it was for satan and the angles that followed him. if you sin and don't repent...deal with the consequences of your actions and stop whining about it. or get right with God.
originally for His fallen angels

Mat 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
Simple answer: God is not just, therefore god is *not* worthy of worship or adoration, real or not.
Any amount of sin you can commit in one life time does not add up to an eternity of punishment... It's irrational..
Because he's evil and insane.
There is no Hell my friend. It is only the fear factory of your mind.
As a child, God delighted in salting slugs...
god created hell for the devil and all of his followers
Oh, but don't you know? The creation of Hell is just another one of those 'Mysterious'; things that God does that shows he loves us.
That'll teach us for letting Eve eat that apple!...wait a minute, that doesn't seem fair.
