I'm a photography student and one of the assignments is a work portfolio. I know the images I want to use, and the basics of the assignment, but what has me so at odds is whether the images should be portrait or landscape. Most of the images are of people, but half are landscape and half are portrait, so I was wondering if anyone knew whether it should be a certain way, or how to incorporate them all without looking like a jumbled mess.Creating a Photography Portfolio?
You should have a variety! Show off everything that you can do, but with your best shots. I'm not sure how to advise you in avoided the jumbled mess, but the best I can think of is categorize them.. just put portraits with portraits and landscapes with landscapes and if you have anything that is both, then put them in between so it kind of leads one category to the next. I hope you can understand what I'm talking about, it probably sounds confusing .Creating a Photography Portfolio?
Reading through a few online articles (most of which were one or the other, cut %26amp; pasted), you either use a theme (';day at the beach';, ';family portraits';, stuff like that), or simply your best shots. Mostly, it should contain shots pertinent to the situation needed...e.g. you wouldn't take a portfolio full of puppies and flowers if you were applying at a news agency. Google it and you'll come up with a variety of opinions on it.
